Add this project to your next lesson plan to help teach kids about different cultures.
Project Steps:
-
Step 1:
Create Head: Cut a 4" x 8" piece of Plast’r Craft and follow the directions on Plast’r Craft box for mixing. Put the mixed Plast’r Craft on a flat surface and use your fingers to shape the head approximately 1-1/2" high and 1-1/4" wide. The back of the head should be flat. Indent where eyes and mouth should be (use the end of a paint brush if necessary). Let dry on a non-porous surface (ie: plastic or metal). When head is completely dry, approximately 12-24 hours, paint as desired.
-
Step 2:
Create Body: Cut one 6" x 3-1/2" piece from a Corobuff® Corrugated Sheet. Place the colored side down. In the center, place the 2" stick 1" over the edge for neck. Hot glue and hold until secure. Approximately 2" from right edge, center one 6-1/2" stick. Hot glue along stick and wrap edge of sheet over stick. Hold firm until secure. Do the same on left side, center stick 2" from edge, hot glue along stick and wrap edge of sheet over stick. Hold until secure. Finish body by gluing overlapping edges of corrugated sheet.

Step 3:
Finishing Your Spirit Person: After head is painted, attach to neck with hot glue. Decorate your Spirit Person as desired with feathers, beads, buttons, leather strips, yarn, felt, multicultural hair or anything you may have to give it that unique one-of-a-kind look.
